Goulburn Regional Art Gallery

off-site projects

The Gallery is pleased to be able to offer two new Artist-In-Residence studios in the picturesque rural rural village of Collector, NSW.  One is ideally set up as a ceramic studio, but may be used for any other media.  The other is part of the Some Cafe with a self-contained 2 bedroom stone house and sunny north facing terrace + studio space, and would be a fantastic space for an artist working in any medium.  The Galley is grateful to ARTSNSW and a private regional donor who have contributed generously to enable both these residencies.

Prior to European occupation the area cround Collector was the home of the Gundungurra Aboriginal people.

Collector is a small rural village 36kms south of Goulburn heading towards Canberra and a 24 minute drive.  It is situated off the highway, 7 kms north of Lake George.  A small town, with a very interesting history.  It is the scene of one of the great dramas of teh bushraning era.

We have been working on some exciting initiatives to activate Goulburn's CBD, and as a part of this, we want to encourage the use of a limted number of temporarily vacant spaces - "pop ups".

Some landloards have already indicated that they would like to have their vacant shops used as a temporary "Creative" space for those who are looking to start up a creative business idea but not able to fund a long term lease and bond.

Newcastle ia s prime example of where this idea has really taken off.
